Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
Guide My Kid helps parents and kids aged 11 to 18 explore possible directions, college majors and careers. This policy explains what we collect and what we do with it. Some users are under 13, so it includes a section for parents.

Parents come first
A parent or guardian starts the guide and enters the child's first name and age. By continuing, the parent confirms they are the child's parent or guardian and agrees to this policy, including their child answering the questions. Kids under 13 should only use Guide My Kid with a parent's permission. We don't ask a child for an email address, phone number, photo, location or account.
What we collect
- From the parent: the child's first name and age, the parent's answers, and activity picks. An email address is optional.
- From the child: answers to the questions. These are scored into a result. The server doesn't keep individual answers.
- Check-ins: check-in answers update the guide. We save the updated result, not the answers.
- Automatically: our hosting provider handles technical data such as IP address and browser type to run and protect the site. Visit counts come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.
How we use it
- To create the guide, and update it when a child finishes or a check-in is done.
- To email the parent the link to their guide, once, if they ask us to.
- To limit abuse of the email form.
- To improve the guide, using anonymous results.
We don't sell personal information, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use it to train AI. No AI reads answers or decides results.
Where it is kept, and for how long
- In the guide link: a guide lives in its private link. Anyone with the link can open it, so share it carefully.
- On the device: answers in progress stay in that browser until the section is finished.
- On our server: if a child answers later, or a parent views their side first, we keep the child's first name and age, the parent's answers and picks, and the result for up to 90 days. Then it is deleted automatically.
- Email: we don't save parent email addresses in our own records. Our email provider keeps delivery records, including the address and the message with its link, under its own retention schedule.
- Email limits: scrambled versions of an email address and IP address are kept for up to a day to prevent abuse.
- Anonymous results: when a parent emails their guide or completes a check-in, we save age, date, scores and the result, with no name or email, in a private spreadsheet. We delete these within 12 months.
We keep information only as long as needed for these purposes.
Who handles it
We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare: hosting, storage, security and visit counts.
- Resend: sending guide emails.
- Google: the spreadsheet of anonymous results.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
For parents of kids under 13
You can ask us to show you what we hold about your child, delete it, or stop collecting it. You can also agree to our use of your child's information without agreeing to share it with third parties, except the service providers above that run the site.
To make a request, email [email protected] and include your guide link, because that's how we find a record. Anonymous results contain no name or link, so we can't match them to a family. We may need to confirm you're the parent before acting.
Security
We use secure connections, private links that are hard to guess, and limited access. No system is perfectly secure, so please treat your guide link like a password.
California residents
Depending on the law that applies to us, you may have the right to know, correct or delete your personal information. We do not sell or share it for targeted advertising. Contact us using the details above. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its date. If a change affects how we handle a child's information, we'll ask for a parent's consent where the law requires it.
